Richard Haydn Taylor

Richard works in the construction industry, but in his spare time enjoys composing for brass/wind bands and chamber ensembles.

Richard’s compositions have been played by bands across the world and many of his compositions have received prizes at international competitions. In 2011, his Boca Tango won the Ohio Brass Arts Festival and his fanfare Salute to Dallas was a winning composition in the Dallas Wind Symphony fanfare competition.

In 2012, Tokyo Sunset, a flugelhorn solo gained 3rd place in the Flowers Band competition, whilst in 2014 Hook'em Horns & Gunsmoke and Gold Dust won the music for youth band category of the Salford International Composers competition.

2016 was another successful year; Richard’s wind band piece Weird Sisters won the Category 1 of the Salford International Composers Competition, and cornet solo Tanguero! won the RWCMD Cory Composition Prize.
